Since the deployment of the first pressure transducer to record continuous water levels during Hurricane Rita, the USGS has made steady advances in the collection of storm tide and wave data. These efforts have improved the agency’s ability to document coastal storm conditions and support understanding of storm-driven coastal processes. This session will provide updates on the USGS Coastal Storm Team, including recent progress in field data collection, instrumentation, and operational coordination. It will also highlight emerging ideas and future directions for enhancing USGS capabilities in coastal storm monitoring and response.
