He also helps oversee a multi-disciplinary groundwater and surface water interaction project assessing the fate and transport of nitrate. This project is part of the NGWOS program in the Illinois River Basin and consists of multiple research sites spanning two water science centers and many innovative and specialized approaches to data collection including long-term measrurements of groundwater flow and direction. Additionally, Lance is working on the research and development of Heat Pulse Flowmeter with the Universities of Idaho and Purdue. Research interests include spatially and temporally dense water quality assessments, fate and transport of nitrate, floodplain processes, and aquifer characterization.
